How did you get the job
for The Spy Who Loved Me
and Octopussy?
The Spy Who Loved Me was the first film.
They were looking for actors who can speak Arabic
and also would look like an Arab as the film was
to be shot in Egypt. I do speak Arabic and of
course played an Arab in TV commercials so I had
no problem at the audition and they offered me
the part. When the time came for the part of
Sadruddin in Octopussy to be cast. My
Asian back ground came to play and also the fact
that I had already worked with Sir Roger (Moore)
in The Spy Who Loved Me, I was given the
part.

What memories have you got of Roger Moore
and Vijay Amritraj?
We had a laugh and a giggle filming on
location, having to do retakes to compensate for
the noise and people walking about at the wrong
time. It was fun to work as a team. Vijay was
brought in after the original casting.
Which of the two films where you acted
you felt more comfortable? and is there any
interesting anecdote about the set of those films
you recall?
The Spy Who Loved Me was more
comfortable as there was Barbara Bach a very nice
and wonderful person to chat to before and after
filming. Also it was a set where things are all
prearranged and nothing is different from the
rehearsals.

What's your opininon about Lewis Gilbert
and John Glen as directors?
Both directors have their own style of
direction and they both went about in a very
attentive way explaining what they were looking
for in a shot and let the actors get on with it.
They were both very relaxed.
Nowadays,
do you follow the film seires? What do you think
of the latest films, Casino
Royale and Quantum
of Solace?
I do follow the series and have all the
films on DVD and the music of all the films in
separate disc. The latest films have more
computerised scenes whether it is a good thing or
not is difficult to say. Mind you a lot of
difficult scenes can be done easily on computer
to add a bit of punch
Have you got a close relationship with
Roger Moore or with any other member of the cast
of your Bond films?
One cant have close relationships
with fellow artists specially when you live miles
away and in different countries.

James Bond is a phenomenom all over the
world. Is Bond that big on India as he is in
Europe and America?
I am afraid in India Bond is not a big
hit, because the Indian cinema provides the
heroes and villains galore in every film they
make. The combination love, villain, hero and
comedy, bad guy, good guy and songs and dances in
very film is what they want
Do
you often attend Bond conventions or autographs
signing sessions?
I attend every Bond Convention and
Autograph signing sessions. It is great fun to
meet fans from all over the world and also gives
an opportunity to meet fellow artists also
needless very profitable.

Are you retired of acting
or you have another project on your hands?
I have some projects pending but at the
moment Reality shows are taking first place so
things are a bit slow.
To
conclude with this interview, are you considering
visiting Argentina someday?
I would love to come to Argentina. I was
there about 30 years ago. It is a lovely country
with such an exciting history.
